2019 Annual General Meeting Review

At the 2019 Annual General Meeting Paul Stevens, Peter Guy and Amanda Green were all re-elected to the board and will be joined by a new face in Nigel Fanning.

Nigel is a member of Yarra Triathlon Club and a triathlete of 15+ years, from local racing to the World Championships (Age Group). With over 20 years commercial and financial management experience in the air transport industry, and formal qualifications including a Masters of Air Transport Management (MSc), Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) and as a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Nigel is keen to make triathlon more accessible, increase participation and further develop the proud triathlon culture in Victoria.

Nigel has committed to apply his skills and experiences to promote a safe, efficient and ethical organisation that reflects the triathlon community and our stakeholders expectations.

In line with the Constitution, the board met post the AGM and returned Paul Stevens to the role of President (and Chair) and Peter Guy as Treasurer a strong commendation of their leadership, strategic thinking and fiscal responsibility since commencing in these roles in 2017. The board will also undertake an extensive search to fill the ‘board appointed’ director positions (two vacancies) in the coming month and complement the skills of the elected directors. Should you be interested, or know anyone suitable, please share the Expression of Interest information once it is released.

Attendees of the AGM received a presentation from Rob Veale of V-Insurance covering the products and scope of the insurance coverage extended to members, clubs, coaches and race directors. The presentation is a valuable resource for all stakeholders and contains Rob’s contacts should you require any further information.

The draft minutes of the AGM will be available to clubs following the next board meeting.
