The 2022 Victorian Aquathlon Championships, presented by Cavalier Homes, returns to regional Victoria next week and is set to showcase some of the best swim and run athletes from around the state.
Competitors will hit the water at Victoria Park Lake on Sunday January 30 when the Shepparton Triathlon Club in partnership with Triathlon Victoria delivers this community event. Competitors undertake a swim leg followed immediately by a run leg, with race distances to suit all ages.
The event is a staple in the Goulburn Valley region which has a rich 20-year history and will play host once again to the long course Challenge Shepparton triathlon in March.
Grant Cosgriff, Executive Director, Triathlon Victoria, is delighted to see the event return to regional Victoria. ”Triathlon Victoria is thrilled to support the 2022 Aquathlon State Championships and the Shepparton Triathlon Club. The club has a strong history of community engagement and successful event delivery,” Cosgriff said.
“After the turbulence of the past two years it’s wonderful to be able to provide the community with racing opportunities. So, grab a friend, family member, or workmate and register as individuals or in a team.”
”And for those preparing to tackle the Challenge Shepparton long course triathlon in March it provides a valuable opportunity to prepare at the same venue – Victoria Park Lake precinct.”
This event is a participation event and a unique opportunity for newcomers to experience multisport competition in a safe and welcoming environment choosing from a range of event distances.
The event will also play a critical role in the selection of the School Sport Victoria Triathlon Team (Team Vic) where boys and girls 11-12 Years or Multiclass competitors 11-19 Years will race for qualification for a top 3 finish in the relevant categories.
